If you’re looking into the best products to use on your roof, you may be wondering what is Total Solar Reflectance (TSR)?
Did you know that the roof of your home is able to capture a huge amount of the sun’s radiation because of its angle and large surface area?
At Globalcote, we have an infrared reflective coating available which is among one of our exterior options designed specifically with the unique Australian climate in mind.

What is TSR?
Total Solar Reflectance (TSR) refers to the method of measuring a surface coating’s reflective capability.
TSR is usually displayed as a percentage between 0% and 100%. If the percentage is a higher number, that means the surface is more effective at reflecting the radiation from the sun.
What Does TSR Mean for my Roof?
Surfaces with a higher TSR can stay cooler and last longer than one with a coating that absorbs more of the sun’s radiation.
To maintain solar reflectance, the surface must remain clean. At Globalcote we have developed a product called Infracote for this purpose. Infracote includes nanotechnology so that the film cross-links around nanoparticles, which enhances the dirt-shedding capabilities of a coating and therefore, keeps your roof clean and achieves a higher TSR.
